Albicans seem to do well regardless of when they are divided. My best guess for maximum increase is to do so about 3-4 weeks following bloom but before they start initiating visible axillary buds.
As a point in passing, I've obtained my best increase on bearded irises by planting the rhizomes 1/2" deep as opposed to on the surface.
