Here is a seedling from Welch's Reward X Iris variegata reginae. Color pretty much the same as the pollen parent but wider and stronger stems and a shade more color on standards. Sib to my MTB Iced Up. Welch's Reward is about 7/8 variegata and 1/8 pallida as far as I can tell.
Now, what would people expect from this or better yet the species Iris variegat reginea X Iris pallida cross.
What would you expect the first generation to look like?
All pretty much the same or a lot of variation?
Stipped or solid? or a mix?
pallida blue or dark purple? or a mix? or intermediate?
papery spathes or green spathes or intermediate?
assuming reginea species has purple leave base, what would we ge with the seedlings?
This seedling does not have purple leave base but I'm not sure of the reginea species. I didn't write it down, but the snow is going and I could check in about a week. Right now I would get stuck in the garden mud.
I'm willing to make the reginea X pallida cross to check.
