Sandy,
I hybridize Louisianas and almost always get a few
albinos among newly germinated seedlings. Usually they are among the first
to germinate. They don't occur randomly, but seem to pop up in particular
crosses. I have never found any that survived. They use up the
nutrients available in the seed and then die. I really have quit paying
attention to this, but when I first started hybridizing I puzzled over it.
I don't think the albinos result from anything you did, but are just the results
of certain genes in combination.
