Spring

Here in central coastal California, Iris "Katherine Hodgkins" started blooming mid-January, after a very wet and cold December.  Reticulata started opening at the beginning of February.  By late Feb., it was all over.
Iris suaveolens had its first bloom March 1, and a few are still in bloom today.  The other MDBs haven't even started.
Meanwhile I have a 3' tall bearded that has been threatening to open for over a week but it remains in partially closed state, like a cleistogamous flower.  A couple of Arilbreds have put up flower scapes.
Other Irids are beginning to open now, starting with Chasmanthe floribunda, Sparaxis metelerkampiae, Babania curviscapa, Romulea nivalis, and moving on to Sparaxis tri-color, pilansii, and elegans, Hesperantha coccinea and a yellow flowered Ixia.

Outside it's all Acacia, mustard, Oxalis pes-caprae, and now, the California poppies are popping up all over.
