I think if AIS helped with funding, the results of same, regardless of how esoteric or academic, should be available to the public upon demand. Ac opy of the original manuscript, or ideally, the printed iteration, should be archived in the AIS Libary, which does, or did, house materials also belonging to the Foundation.
AIS is a non-profit with a mission to educate, and that does not just mean teaching kids to judge TBs and the general public not to lime their JIs or collect natives from the wild willy-nilly.
From a practical standpoint, authors of advanced work sometimes surrender copyright when they submit papers for publication in journals. But an abstract plus a citation might be nice to have to offer, or, as I said, just a citation.

I agree. If AIS helped with funding, it should be available to AIS
members. Part of member services on AIS website would work.

Anner,
That's a good idea. I started one on my web site but wasn't good at
maintaining it. One problem is just finding out about the articles as
they are published. You'd also think that AIS would be keen to list
published research that it has helped fund.

Have we given any thought to mounting a bibliography, peas with links,
or the articles proper, where permitted by copyright,on the SIGNA web
page, or is same already up there and I have simply not noticed? I
think such a thing would been everso pleasant, dignified, and
useful, and, if public, could conceivably draw researchers deploying the
usual search engines to the site, and so to the organization.

I just sent Mark a copy of the article, which includes maps with
location of a number of iris colonies. If anyone else would like this
article, let me know.

Chuck,
I wonder if there is a good on-line map showing the Florida Iris
species and locations? I tried to google one without success.
