Dear Iris species group, In our search for seed of new and rare Iris species for the SIGNA Seed Exchange we regularly communicate with gardeners and botanist all over the place. We were very fortunate to get some pictures from a very avid Japanese grower of the rare Iris rossii ( Haruhiko Kimura of Saitura, Japan ) This species is in the Series Chinenses along with more common I. minutoaurea, I. henryi and others. It is considere!
d rare in Japan, Korea and China where it grows. Dennis has posted these very intriguing pictures to the SIGNA Database at http://signa.org/index.pl?Iris-rossii And NO we still haven't located a supply of seeds, but we keep trying and would appreciate any leads any members may have for possible new additions to the Seed Exchange. We do not believe it has ever been cultivated in the US and plants are not available. Jim Murrain and Jim Waddick - co-chairs Jim Murrain 8871 NW Brostrom Rd Kansas City, MO 64152-2711 USA Zone 6a |
