Tigridia was one of the bulbs which interested Cyrus Guernsey Pringle during his young maturity in Charlotte, Vermont. Circa 1870 he ordered some from Hovey in Boston to experiment with developing new varieties, and later discovered others in Mexico on his collecting trips, including Tigridia pringlei S. Watson.

I used to grow Tigridia pavonia, but it is not a long-lived perennial here.  I think it has vanished from my garden.
