disappointment after 7 1/2 year wait [2 Attachments]

I bought Iris urmeinsis in the fall of 2008. Like most Oncos it failed
to thrive, but unlike many others it never died. Finally this year it
produced a bud. We are getting hit with El Nino rains so I put a ring of
chicken wire around it with small plastic roof. It was not enough.Storms
dumped 1.1 inches on my garden over night. I'm attaching a photo I took
near sundown last night and another photo I took this morning. With
usual 20/20 hindsight I realize should have put a bucket over the plant.

Maybe I can keep it alive long enough to bloom again. I was really
hoping for a decent photo. Sigh.
