Dianne;
I don?t see a real problem with unwanted e-mails. I am on many lists and although not the great techy I certainly know a few rules that everyone should follow. If the message heading doesn?t make sense for the list, I delete it without ever opening. Of course if someone uses a stupid or cutsy message header I never see the message because it gets deleted. Words like WARNING, FOR YOU, or any other nondescript heading should always be deleted or you run the risk of a virus attack. Todays hackers are getting more sophisticated and can send a message through a friends mailbox address so looking at the source is not a sure way of protecting oneself. But I look apon the problem as not one that needs to be the responsibility of the list owner but of the people on the list. Each person needs to be responsible for their own actions. I admit that I have been fooled onec when I got an e-mail fro a friend titled URGENT. Normally I would delete such a message without ever opening, but since I have just been discussing something with them for which I needed a quick answer the heading made sense. Fortunately my Norton Antivirus was able to stop the virus progress. In this day and age it is just too bad for those who don?t learn about taking proper protection.

I belong to many yahoo gardening groups, and only three of them have
received those ads. I've checked the Group settings for many of my
groups, and there are a couple of safe combinations that our
listowner may like to consider, apart from having a totally moderated
list which would mean he has to approve every message.
