I envy Jim's and Dennis's ability to grow so many of the special species. More good luck to you!
Mine abort or commit ritual seppuku. They germinate, stick their heads above the surface, fell the cold and damp then surrender to the elements. It was 32 this morning. Don't believe what you read about the sunny Virginia.

Yeah, but you don't hear about the failures we have before we stumble across a success. I can't keep I. cristata or I. verna alive for very long, and they are natives! In my garden they're biennials or triennials... tops.
My advice is keep trying! Trade with others, swap plants, try more SIGNA seeds, etc.
Dennis in Cincinnati where the irises REFUSE to bloom in this cold cloudy weather. I've had one aril waiting for 7 days now, showing color in bud, but refusing to bloom. Could today be the day?!?
