cristata companions

Growing amongst the I. cristata were lots of Aquilegia canadensis. It was
a much more dwarf form of columbine that grows around my property. They
looked so cool growing together, blooming together on the rocks on the edge
of the cliffs overlooking the stream. Unfortunately none of the photos
turned out so good.

Oh yeah, and while I was messing around getting close-ups of the irises,
Terry wandered off and found THIS magnificent Cyprepedium growing uphill
surrounded by more irises. I was THRILLED! I've never seen a lady slipper
in real life before. This picture was totally worth the trip. There were
numerous baby (non-flowering) Cyps in the area, and about half a dozen
blooming ones.
