Re: tectorum


Will,
Here are two pictures I took of tectorum's yesterday.
The first is 'Woolong'; the second is a regular blue
variety that I purchased from a local nursery. Neither
has the pronounced pattern of the picture you posted.
But I did notice that some of the tectorum images on
the Iris City Gardens site do have considerable
spotting.

The third picture is 'Paltec'.

I'll try to get a comparative picture of Woolong, the
ordinary blue, and one of my F1 (blue X white)
seedlings. I potted one of these F1 up and gave the
rest to my sister and a co-worker. Since I'm moving I
couldn't keep them all for now. The F1 hasn't opened
up yet, but they all had pretty nice blooms last year.
I also collected a boatload of seed so I can plant a
big F2 population at my new place. That way I should
be able to see some variation and be able to make some
improved selections (for form, size, branching, color, etc.).
