Iris hookeriana vs Iris kemaonensis

As I mentioned in an earlier e-mail, I was uncertain about whether the
"Iris hookeriana" plant I have is really that or Iris kemaonensis. The
very short flower stem indicated kemaonensis. According to the BIS
Guide to Species Iris, the rhizomes are also different:

hookeriana: rhizome slender, fairly loose, knobby; roots slender, fleshy
kemaonensis: rhizome thick, gnarled; roots fleshy

I decided to remove a division from the plant and examine the rhizomes.
I'm attaching a photograph. It looks to me to fit the description of
kemaonensis. The plat is growing in a sandy/gravelly potting mix; though
I can't recall how that affects rhizome growth.

Any other opinions?
