Could it be I. prismatica? Joan C. Mike Unser wrote: Just in case anyone missed this on the iris-photos group: After my 'open garden' two years ago a very nice lady dropped off a small clump of this iris and wanted me to identify it. I thought it was a siberian, but she insists it cannot be that. Seeing it now I am inclined to agree with her. I've never seen a sib with purple in the throat before. However, it has been suggested again that it is a siberien - can anyone confirm that? In this pic it's about 14" high, but the other bloom stalks are up to 17" now. The flowers are dainty, off-white, purple in the throat and gold on the hafts. There are 3-4 four buds at the top of the stalk (which is hollow), and no branches. The foliage is very similar to a siberian, not thick and tough like a PCI. I grow a dozen PCIs and they all have a similar, tough texture to the foliage - this one does not have that texture. I really like it, and would love to put a name on the species - or species cross? It's unlike any other I grow. Appreciate any input! |
