strange year

I hiked the local bog where Iris brevicaulis can be found, and I was
rather disappointed to find none of them blooming. They are usually
in full bloom on Memorial Day weekend. They are not blooming in my
garden either, although the other Louisianas are in full swing. I
don't know if they are just late this year, or if there is some other problem.

The Shaker Trace wildflower nursery is propagating the local genotype
of Iris brevicaulis and their collection was blooming nicely
today. They also had plenty of blooms on their Iris virginica var. shrevei.
