Passing this along from jim Waddick;
There is one registered I. milesii hybrid
'Islay' = milesii x 'Question Mark' by Revie Harvey of NZ. 34 " tall!
Question Mark is I. watti x I. confusa or 'Darjeeling' (the latter is named cv of I japonica x I wattii)
QM is also from Revie Harvey and I think these are written up in Gardening w/ Iris Species symposium.
and there's 'Honiana' which is 'QM' x tectorum which I think we had briefly from "Frances Love of NZ. She sent us a piece with a Siberian Iris I can't recall.
I think 'Darjeeling' is around, and 'QM', but don't know if 'Islay' is in the US. It would take some searching around the W. Coast.
Probably tectorum & milesii are closer related to each other than to the japonica/ confusa/ wattii etc group.
More interesting is 'Queen's Grace' - wattii x tectorum.
And there's more 'supposed' tectorum hybrids including x a TB by Lee Lenz !
Unfortunately most of these involve the tender japonica/ conf./watti group.
No hybrids with formosana , but lots of others in the group.
Confused? but I don't think anyone has tried tectorum and milesii much in colder climates.
