Hi Walter, Just a ? How is the 1962 with minerals working for you? And how many gram of sugar are you adding per liter water? The first 2 companies that came up were sigma-aldrich.com and plantmedia.com. Both say they will ship to Denmark. The third source that came from google was duchefa-biochemie.com which is in the Netherlands. That might mean a lot less shipping costs for you. Maybe faster, too. I have dealt with sigma-aldrich. com with no problems. I have never heard of the others. Carolina biological supply is another company I have dealt with. They are good, but more expensive than others, I think they are more expensive because they sell a lot of kits to schools. USA public schools are bad about not checking several places before ordering. Carolina biiological is as good as any, but not better. There is no justification for their higher prices. I can't think of the name of the company I have come to use. It is only 2 hours from my home so shipping costs are low for me. Of course the shipping costs from them to you might be a great deal, certainly not a bargain. Amazon says they have ms medium. They say they have everything. When I google something, I automaticly get a message saying amazon has it. I check and maybe they have it, maybe they don't. I rarely even check with amazon any more,, though I have never had a bad deal with them. It is just that their ads are spam to me. I saw that the companies I checked had several different variations on ms medium. I use the origional 1962 one but with the vitamins added. That variation is offered by about all the companies that sell ms. Good luck with your search. If you have a problem getting the medium. I can check some more. And I can check the shipping label on mine and see the name of my dealer if you like. I do my internet at the public library, so I don't have my own things handy when I'm emailing. I have about 150 tubes staying in my office window (to get as much light as possible). It is my first attempt. I did last fall made about 50 test tubes before the technique was working for me. I have not access to MS (Murashige and Skoog) medium in Denmark â is there anyone there can recommend a good supplier? My medium goes like this: 4 gram Agar to a liter water (I have used tap water, and it is working ) â the Agar I am using has a high content of minerals. My goal has been to get at least 50 plans to plant out this first time. The first plants are going to be planted out in a week or 2. Peter Grass is my mentor in this matter â he has been very helpful. I found it in the 2008 Yearbook. WOW what a great set of photos! You're absolutely right that details on the embryo extraction process are what all the other articles fail to describe. One of them just has a single sentence on it. LOL.
I just purchased a bunch of equipment (test tubes, forceps, scalpels, funnel, etc.) to get me started but I haven't purchased any agar/nutrient powders yet. Can you give me any suggestions? I'm mostly doing spec-x crosses involving versicolor, and others with tectorum.
Oh by the way, if you grow yours in test tubes what size do you find works best? I went with 1" x 10" since versicolor gets awfully tall awfully fast.
Thanks, Ken! Dennis in Cincinnati
