large Iris foetidissima [1 Attachment]

It is not uncommon to encounter Iris foetidissima in parks around the San Francisco Bay Area and sometimes in people's yards. I usually think of them  as being, maybe, 18" (45 cm) tall, but yesterday, while walking in Lafayette, a friend and I found a park where some plants had leaves well over 40" (1 m). I'm attaching a photo. Have others seen plants this tall?
