Thanks for the i. herbertia link. I'll have to follow back on it. Incidentally, I''ve been meaning to ask about the herbertia and maybe other irids you are growing. Are the irids grown outside during the winter? Do you have a micro-climate area near the house you utilize?
 
I have i. herbertia, dietes, alophia and one lone watsonia in rectangular planters in the garage. Currently I intend to keep them in the garage and plant in the ground in early June. 
Any suggestions are doubly welcome. 
 
Today, I spotted one seedling of i. Hexagona, ssp savannarium from Florida and 2 seedlings of i. japonica. That makes 3 seedlings of japonica to germinate. The starlings got one seedling in spring as it broke ground. This time I brought the pots inside, starlings or no starlings.
