I've posted some of my species pictures in the Photos section of iris-
species. They're in an Album called "Species-Andiris Gardens" Robert,
Rodney, and Dennis you are welcome to use any of my images for your
projects if you want.
My I. marsica/I croatica images are posted there. I have a thought on
this/these plants. In the early spring the stalks are thick and
straight and the spaths are inflated and maroon. In May (this clump
blooms from late March thru May with repeat bloom in June. The spaths
in May are not maroon and the stalk are thin, snakey, and long. I
wonder if maybe they are different species or if they are just
different clones.
Next thought, I've checked my seed records (finally) and the suspect
I. marsica came from SIGNA 99C035 HMT. I'm wondering could I. marsica
have crossed with I. croatica? Harold is usually very reliable. It
shows to have been hand pollinated, but maybe a bee beat Harold to
it. Harold if you're out there do you also have I. croatica? I'm
pretty convinced it is I. croatica esh :) but is it pure and just
mislabeled or is it a hybrid. No seeds yet. Dave have you gotten any
seed of it?
