Re: Crocosmia 'High Light'

Do you mind if I ask you two what sort of soil each of you is growing your crocosmia in and how much summer rainfall you typically get, AND how hot does your soil typically get during the summer?

Where I am in Indiana, soil temp seems to make a huge difference to many of my perennials--even when they are supposedly "dormant". For instance, I've noticed that many of my daffodils refuse to multiply in soil that gets hot and dry during mid to late summer.

Thanks!

I get regularly seeds on my Crocosmia here in Guelph, Ontario . I lift them and store over winter.

Jim,

That looks like a good crop of seeds.

This is the first time I have had seeds on a Crocosmia. Probably a weed in many milder climates but challenging to grow in Kansas City. The pods are rather decorative, a fact I have never read about. I gathered these just as the pods started to open.
