Chuck’s comments about stature and branching in hookeri hybrids got me wondering about color forms. Hookeri has always seemed to me to be one of those species which doesn’t have very much variation; I’ve only ever had blue-violet ones.
I remember having a chat with Tony Huber at the species convention in Hamilton; I mentioned that I was interested in this species, and he whipped out a folder of photos and showed me photos of a pink hookeri and a white one. The white was not a clean, pure
white but still had some haft markings. Instant plant lust on my part. There was a seed donation in the 2008 exchange, 00TR203, described as a wild collected lavender-pink form from Nefwoundland. I have a couple of seedlings from this lot but haven’t bloomed them yet. Does anyone out there have experience
with any hookeri in colors other than blue or blue-violet? Ken |
