I can not think of anything else you could call it in our classification system. Even Foster's system (late 1800's) of combining names of the species parents would probably not work since we do not know for sure that Holden Clough was a pseudacorus x viginica which he would have called pseudinica or perhaps if vice versa virgindacorus. It is definitely not a pseudata which look similar but are pseudacorus x ensata.
