Northward Ho is one from Lloyd Zurbrigg.
If it is your first time blooming, may very well be blooming on various fans, that didn't quite make it in spring. So hard to tell what is going on. It should be divided into single fans so you can tell better. But too late for that this year, or for shipping . I would suggest taking photos so you can keep track of which increases is doing what. One year out of three is a bit puzzling. But could have had increases that just did not get bud set temperatueres in previous years. Erratic performance is always tricky to evaluate.

Chuck,
This is a seedling, and I think you hit the nail on the head with Northward Ho being one of the seed parents that I remember. I am almost positive that this was the name on the seed packet I received from the "prairie" group at coldzonegardens@yahoo.com. I am still trying to track down exactly who sent me the seeds. It first bloomed in late may and then kind of a stem once in a while from then on. There are about a half dozen fans. I think the plant is about three years old now and these are its first blooms. I am going to move it this fall - now and mulch it well perhaps dividing it into three and put it in three different locations. If you want a fan or two I can send them to you.
Is 'Northward Ho' one of your introductions?

Looks like 'Northward Ho' It does that for me, in colder area of S. Ontario. But doesn't start until mid to late summer. Haven't heard of that sort of blooming in other Prairie gardens.
Do you know name? How long have you had plant? How big is clump?

I have a question for the bearded Iris enthusiasts. Are there continuous blooming bearded irises out there? I ask this because I have a tall bearded Iris that continues to sent up new blooming flower stalks. It started doing this in late spring and has recently sent up another with a total of five over this time period. This is its first year of bloom. I am also wondering if I should now cut off any existing flower stalks as the last one is about half bloomed and the new one is just coming on.
