How I did in SFVIS show

As usual, southern California has had unusual weather, leading to having
fewer iris available to show this week than either last week or next
week.

I managed to find six stalks worthy of taking in, one of which seemed
like a possible Queen of Show. I won three blues, and three reds.

The reds were I. versicolor (fading a bit), Queen Anne's Lace, and
Mesmerizer (the first time my favorite iris failed to win a blue when I
entered it, but it came close).

The blues were Perfume Shop, a Keppel IB that would have won Best of
Section if one fall had completely opened by judging time; I've Got
Rhythm, a fairly new Schreiner TB that made it to the table for best TB
(with five others) only to be eliminated first; and Graphique, a Mary
Dunn plicata I had the high hopes for, which was runner-up for best TB.

So, no special awards, but half firsts and half seconds ain't bad, to
lapse into the vernacular.

And no, I don't remember the name of the blue self that beat Graphique,
or the gorgeous deep blue LA that won Queen of Show.

I bet Randy Squires does, though, at least for the latter.
