I understand your frustration, Cathy. The Royal Botanical Gardens,
similarly, do not label their iris beds. This practice ceased when funding
levels fell and insufficient staff to provide security from theft. It seems
that the thievery was much reduced when there were no labels.
However, we did discover that the garden curator does have a garden map and
was quite willing to walk through the gardens with us. The RBG does have
spring and fall sales and the plants are labelled.
Locally, the Central Experimental Farm experiences significant losses of
plants with their labels!
