Well, Chris , since this discussion is going to the dogs already,  I might
as well chime in.  I had the identical experience as you this past weekend.
A new neighbor has appeared bordering the west side of my backyard, and she
has three dogs.  Yep, just like yours, her dogs have chosen the fence
alongside one of my seedling beds as their prime dumping ground.  I was
nearly gagging as I weeded, and wondering whether and how I might be able to
communicate my distress without offending her, when she came outside with a
shovel and a large bag, and began cleaning up.  I told her I sympathized
with the tough job she had to do.  We exchanged pleasantries, and I
mentioned to her that there is a product I used to scatter on the yard when
I had dogs, which kills the odor.  She asked where she could get it, and I'm
going to have to check with a pet store or someplace, because I've forgotten
the name of it.  But I think we're on the way to a solution on a friendly
basis.

Doesn't it just drive you crazy when you don't have total control of
what's going on in your own gardens .  I have dog problems as well ,
. . . Our neighbour created an area where he wanted to dogs
to do their buisness , unfortuneately it 's on the other side of the
fence bordering my iris bed on the side of my house.  Weeding is
suddenly more unpleasant than usual !!!!
