I see that I've lost a link to the main seedling gallery - which will take
more troubleshooting time than I have available right now.  

PALIMPSEST doesn't show splotches, but on the inner half of the falls it
does have the combination of a color separation pattern and dotted overlay
that gives the mixture of colors I was describing.  It's just patterned
instead of splattered.

Perhaps that will provide a boost to the imagination until I can make the
seedling photos accessible.
