Amy,
Hi! Weird (ugly?) irises are my passion, and I have to agree with Dell on
Starple. I adore Starple :) Even if it *is* growing too short this year.
A few of my other favorites are:
Thornbird (of course). 'Nuff said.
Pshaw- a purple plicata. The most unusual purple plicata I've seen.
Surreal- SA with tan standards and shimmering white falls with purple
plicata and short horns
Carnival Song- In my opinion, an underrated plicata with pink standards with
maroon streaks, and white falls with maroon plicata and dotting
Hubble Space Telescope- brown/yellow/purple plic on white background with
short horns. Should be named Space Age Weed, it grows so well.
Dream Indigo- there used to be a picture of it on the Sutton's website.
It's a gorgeous IB with grayish standards and deep indigo purple falls.
Does real well here.
And then there's all the Kasperek stuff... You can't go wrong with those for
"weird." (Bewilderbeast is my personal fave- it doesn't grow like a TB here,
but at least it grows)
