FLAVOURS = ZING ME X KNIGHT TEMPLAR

LYRIQUE = ZING ME X DIVINE

LYRIQUE does have rather open falls.
I find that all except INGENIOUS make only poor increase here (perhaps
because Ingenious hasn't bloomed for me yet?). My LYRIQUE seedlings are
showing the same problem. I am rather afraid to cross any of them, for fear
they bloom out.
I posted a photo of SOUL SOUND recently to the iris-photos list (March
archives - I think)This has to be my favourite of the 4.
My 6 LYRIQUE X LONDON LORD seedlings should bloom this Spring. (Photo
opportunity?)
My 7 MAGIC CHILD X SOUL SOUND seeds are in the pot, and I have also planted
lots of seeds from ZING ME X DIVINE, and ZING ME X CHINESE EMPRESS.
The fertility of the ZING ME offspring does not impress me, although I have
only tried a few crosses. My own IB's from MARSCAY X AZTEC BURST proved to
be highly fertile, crossing back to TB's, IB's and SDB's, and the seedlings
are popping up as I write. Of course there may be nothing of value among
them, and if there is, I have serious doubts as to my ability to recognise
it :-)
The Blyth cv that most interests me at present is CELCIUS. This is from ZING
ME X CHANTED, and is already proving a great parent for new colours in SDB's
and IB's. I have done far to many crosses using CELCIUS one way or the
other. I don't know whether it has produced any taller offspring, with the
spot pattern yet. Maybe Barry will surprise us soon?
It seems to cross with anything, including I.germanica.
I'm thinking of trying it on a bed post, next time it blooms.
It has amazing presence in the garden, with a very bold chocolate spot, lots
of bloom. I have some of Blyth's CELCIUS offspring in my garden. (to compare
with my own of course!)
