Hello talkers,
We just had to share our excitement over our beautiful new seedling!! It's a VERY DARK red/purple with very noticeable bright purple beards. This iris is an SDB or possibly an IB, haven't really measured yet. Fairly large flower out of Chubby Cheeks x unknown(we think) The turkeys did the " turkey trot" in this seedling bed before we got it fenced!Nicely ruffled and very flared. Frangrant too!! Description can't do this beauty justice.
We had 4x the normal snow fall this year here in California,we thought everything would rot away. On the contrary our clumps our enormous and way ahead of our normal peak bloom season of mid- May! Ghio's Select Circle is a giant clump with about 20 stalks starting to bloom. Sutton's Wings Of Peace is doing the same thing, as well as several Guest Irises (Region 15 trek garden). 5or 6 SDB'S out ,but more TB'S .Schoonchee (by Pete De Santis ) is threatening to take over the neighbors garden! We don't know what's happening!!!
HAPPY SPRING, Ken and Christie Pierson
Julian Ca. USDA zone 7/8
SEE SOME OF YOU AT THE TREK!!!HOPE EVERYONE ENJOYS THEIR VARIOUS TREKS AND CONVENTIONS!
