Re: iris disease or virus

Good morning! I am new to this list and hoping for a little help or
direction. I have been growing several different iris for a couple of
years now and have had to deal with odds and ends of disease (crown
rot and the like) without too much trouble. I have 3 plants which
have developed odd looking leaves, very clumpy and spiky, rather than
the elegant fan that iris usually develop. The leaves are so
tightly packed together that they are litterally ripping as they
attempt to seperate. The blooms stalk fails to grow and the
bloom is happening in the middle of the leaf mess. Ick! Today I
learned of a virus called pineapple virus which I am guessing is what
these plants have since the leaves look like pineapple leaves. Is
there a treatment, or do I need to eradicate these iris and the ground
they were in? I have been unable to find a quick reference, and my
local library Iris tombs have little if anything on the diseases of
these lovely plants. Help! Please!! The rest of my iris are happily
getting ready to bloom if not already blooming. Will this problem
spread? Is there a vector? Suggestions for a GOOD iris book with
photos of the various diseases and descriptions of the appropriate
treatments would be welcomed. Any assistance will be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you.
