Re:OT weather

A couple years ago--we were coming home from Portland and went by Marky
Smith's to see her iris patch--and yes, it was raining--on and on--so we
waded out to the garden and there were buckets upside down over several of
the Iris--seems that she gets tired of waiting for the rain to stop--and
goes out and puts buckets over the ones she will use for pollen and the
others where she will put the pollen--I always thought that that was a great
way to 'hybridize in the rain'.
Marky was doing SDB's or IB's that year--and buckets which will fit over the
little ones are easier to find than buckets which will cover the taller
ones--but Irisarians are resourceful--they will find something to cover the
blooms so that they can do their hybridizing and not let a little --or a
lot-- of rain stop them!!

the past week--
