Re: Cult; Rain at last

Hi, Colleen,
As you head into winter, I am heading into summer, five months of temperatures of 100 F degrees and above, my worst time of the year. Irises here have been blooming since the middle of March and probably have two more weeks to go. Every morning I go out and pollenize some of the blossoms. Last year out of about 25 crosses, I only got one pod, so this year I've made over 50 and it looks as though about 75% of them are taking. What work I'm making for next spring when I have to set out all those seedlings! Please enlighten me. What are chooks?

  Hi Wendy

Our gardens very happy also, we got 27mm with more forecast for Wednesday
(how often does it not rain on Anzac Day). Has turned cold now, had our
first frost last week, a little later than usual. Spent yesterday freezing
at a Plant Sale that wasn't properly publicised. Not impressed.
Managed to stuff up an old hyperextension injury on my neck a few weeks ago,
so an having problems driving. Won't be able to go to Wagga this weekend.
Will have to stay home and rest, if I remember how. May puddle around and do
some weeding. Little weeds are easy, and the chooks love them.

Looking forward to seeing some rebloom now the season has broken. My seeds
  are sprouting madly.

  Looking forward to those JI

  >Hello All,
  >I just wanted to yell out with great pleasure that we have finally had lots
of lovely rain today. Yesterday we had gale force winds but not one of the
new tb plantings heaved,,,thank heavens, as some of the Tempo Two babies
  where whoppingly huge rhizomes.
  >I have just tipped out 35 mls of lovely God Sent grass growing rain. I am
sure all the plants in my garden are singing, from the new plantings of TB,
Dwarves, just dug Ji;s, new Sibs and the dutch iris are already 5 inches up.
I wonder what all the other hidden treasures are doing.....I know some are
sprouting roots as I dug them up by error when I was slogging away lifting 4
year old JIs for Colleen Modra.
  >Who needs to go to the gym when we have our gardens, boy am I sleeping well
at nights with all my digging efforts.....No rebloom here, but lots are
making many, many increases. I am hoping for a very colourful Spring this
  year.....
  >Cheers for now....from Wendy Sargeant in muddy , wet
gumboots...Smiling....in Zone ?Not really sure at present as it has been so
  changeable lately, Australia..
