Patricia Brooks mentioned breeding for pinks without tangerine or red
beards. I have two cultivars in bloom today with pink beards.
ELECT LADY by Bernice Miller is a pink much like VANITY, but here the
beard is pink from the tip to deep in the throat.
A seedling of Peach Reprise x Priscilla of Corinth has produced a
white iris with yellow shoulders and a wide beard that is a hard-to-
describe shade of pink. To me it is the shade of a cherry in a can
of fruit cocktail. Not red, but light pink. This is maiden bloom
and I am waiting for other flowers on the stalk to bloom before I
take a picture of it just to make sure the color is the same on other
blooms and I am not seeing things!
