RE: CULT: repeated attempts to grow...


Someone suggested trying each cultivar several times before deciding it
won't grow in your climate/garden.  A less expensive/time consuming
approach is to talk to several other gardeners in your general area who
have also tried to grow it.  If you find three other people who have
also lost it, especially if they have different garden sites and soils
and have tried it in different years, it's a good bet there isn't much
point in trying to grow it again.

However, if it does well for others around, it's probably worth trying
again.

For example: I had a difficult time getting IMMORTALITY to live for me.
But others in my region had a ton of it and it generally grows like a
weed.  People kept giving it to me until it finally 'took' here, and now
I too have a ton of it and set pods on it every year.
