COMP: Iris Database Beta Version 1.1

Hello everyone,

Well, I've got a few people who are testing this beta version, however, it IS better than Version 1.0 that much I am sure.

This one does have reports and if you would like to also have the better version you can download this at

http://www.telusplanet.net/public/janetto

This is just a quick 'n dirty download site where you can get the beta version

I have a mac one prepared, but because of the pixel configuration, I may need to redo the screens on the macintosh. John Jones is going to preview it for me and
hopefully will also let me know what is missing for the serious iris breeder.

I want to acknowledge three individuals who have assisted me with the database. John Jones, Ed Czarnecki and Mike Greenfield.

What is new in Beta 1.1?

-More Descriptive values
-More Parental values
-Notes has turned into Observations with an additional field
-Miscellaneous in order to set your personalized numbering system (I believe most people use something like 97TB12c - Year introduced, Category, incrementing number,
from bud) I think that's how it's supposed to work.
-Three reports Name, Category and Location
-Import/Export feature

Please note that several fields with dropdown lists are completely editable.

Location(bed), Category, Multiply Category, Bud position, Status (increase/decrease)

In final Version (rebloom) will also be editable. I figured out what that means. I apologize for my ignorance.

Please note that some of the things you must do is for your new records, you MUST select the New button on the layout screen itself. This is a limitation of the
program. Additionally for the reports you Must sort the column on the list view before you print. This way you can either have it in ascending or decending order.

There is also a general help file attached, but it is not cooperating with me at this time. You may double click on it for general database instructions.

In version 2 it will be a relational database where I will incorporate past years. But I will do this likely in the fall.

I hope you find this helpful.

Janet
