CULT - Timing?

Guess I'm going to have to unlurk for a question.

Last winter somebody sent me 8 or so old iris, a mixed unknown lot of old
survivors. The ground here was already rock solid here so I planted them
directly into the dirt of my cold frame. Is it safe for me to kick them out
into the garden now? I'm in zone 4 in New Hampshire. Daffs haven't bloomed
yet, can just see the buds. My other iris out in the yard are really just
now beginning to grow again. The cold frame does get freezing temps in there
so they are hardened off. Been leaving it propped open for the last couple
days to let more cold in.
Think I'm safe?
I could really use the room for other plants I have started in the house
now.

There isn't much root growth on them. I lifted one rhizome yesterday for a
close look and there wasn't much growth over the winter but it's firm and
putting up leaves. They did experience freezing temps over the winter just
not like what they would have gotten outside. I'm really pretty amazed that
they made it. Would hate to loose them now after bringing them this far.
