Pat, this is almost unheard of. I remember Ft. Worth canceling a
show back in 1968 because it rained every day the week of the
show. I cannot remember what Dallas did then. FW didn't have a
show in 1993 because of the convention. Sometime in the early
80s, there was a frost about a week before the show, but it got only
the open blooms, and in a few days, you couldn't tell there was
ever a frost. The show went on.
I a wondering if North Mississippi Lakes Iris Society can scrape
together enough flowers for our show next Saturday. I have a tall
stalk of STAR SURGE open today. It has a bud count of four, and
even though the flower is nice and there is a branch, it shouldn't get
a ribbon at all if it were entered in a show. It is just the second TB
to bloom this season.
