from the TX hills. I presume that the weather is the
most likely culprit but the TB bloom is lousy. I'm
not quite sure if it is a *very* late season and I'll
see more later or if this is *it*.
I have gotten bloom on about a dozen different vars.,
one stalk each. First was Romie Stewart, then Swagger
Matter, Bluid and Gene Machine; all Tom Burseen's
intros which seem to be better able to take our weird
and often fierce weather. Also bloom on Lullabye of
Spring, Life of Riley, Epicenter, Bronco Brown,
Fashion Passion, another Burseen iris, and an old
reliable. Baloo should be open tomorrow along with
Filibuster. Got maybe a half-dozen more, questionable
vars. but I should know them when they bloom.
On the other hand, the LAs are going great!! Multiple
stalks on all the older clumps. I ordered some
nineteen vars. last year, through our local club, from
Iris City Gardens and all but one of these have
produced a stalk from the terrific rhizomes they sent!
Vermilion Treasure has three stalks!! I've already
ordered from them again, of course.
