Our squirrels are not capable of any of those atrocities. They just aren't big enough. Around here if there are nest problems in cars it is packrats. They can build a nest in an evening, and they like to work at night under the cover of darkness. They are especially good at propping things in the carborator's of older cars so that the gans pedal goes down and then can't come back up when you take your foot off of the gas. The large cubes fed to cattle work great for this. They apparently "trade" the cube for something they lick off of the carburator. I have found silber spoons stuck in there as well.

       They are not that large, but they are notorious for things like digging 
  up and eating bulbs, digging up Irises or Daylilies, eating out the wiring in 
  autos, tearing up people's attics, ...   Not too long ago, someone had their 
  car catch fire [totalled] because a squirrel built a nest in the engine 
  compartment.  The odd thing is that the car was driven daily.
