RE: OT-squirels

There are many varieties of squirels here and they constantly raid the bird feeders but the only garden damage is is the black walnuts that sprout everywhere in the garden and the patches of sunflower seeds that sprout throughout the garden, allthough I suspect the sunflowers are the work of the chipmonks. Cat keeps throwing himself against the glass to try to get the chipmonks, I hear periodic thumps during the day as a result of his frantic efforts.
We have a couple of very large squirels that make regular visits, one grey and one black. Many smaller (about 1/3 the size) brown and red squirels. About 90 minutes from here is a location that has pure white squirels and we make a point of stopping to watch them every time we go by that area. These are not albino but white with black eyes. I believe this is the only location of these white squirels, the town makes quite a tourist production out of them.
We just ignore , or just observe the squirels, and pull up the black walnuts (with some efforts) and live with each other. Mind you there is enough room here for everybody to have there own space, including critters. We have given up trying to grow corn as the racoons harvest it two days before it is ripe enough for us. That wouldn't be too bad except that they insist on harvesting it all and taking a couple of bites of each cob.
