OT: BIO: Diana Williams

Hello, everyone! I have been mostly lurking here for many months now,
and figured it's about time I properly introduced myself.

I live in Central VA, USDA zone 7a, Sunset zone 32. I've had the
Iris-Virus since I was about 4 years old, when my grandma gave me my
very first iris. There was a commercial iris garden near where I grew
up, and every year I would beg my dad to take me up there during
bloom season. Ever since, I have dreamed of having my own iris
garden, and now that I have a little space of my own, I am going to
make that dream a reality!

My current iris selection is pretty grim - I have less than a dozen
different ones, and all are unknown. However, I have been offered
some named cultivars from a couple of very kind people, and plan to
order a bunch this year as well. I have been to as many iris websites
as I can find, reading and researching on the Internet, in addition
to any printed material I can find/buy. I have joined the local iris
society and will be sending in my AIS membership soon. I'm learning
fast - I hope!

My goals are to get a respectable collection established and maybe do
"a little" <G> hybridizing. I'd love to develop some more modern cv's
that are better able to tolerate the heat & humidity here on the East
Coast. Someday I would love to have a commercial garden as well.

I have enjoyed reading everyone's posts and look forward to learning
even more from all the wonderful people here.

Diana Williams
