OT:Iris-Photo seedling by Randy Squires

Randy, that seedling that you won with at the San Fernando Valley Iris
Society Spring Show is absolutely magnificent! I would love to buy a
rhizome when available. Do you plan on introducing it?
Would someone be patient enough to explain the pedigree? I
understand (HAPPY BRIDE X LAVENDER QUEEN) HB is the pod parent, LQ the
pollen parent. But then I'm confused. Was FLUTE ENCHANTEE bred to LQ
(with LQ as the pod parent)? And then "x (MESMERIZER x GODSEND). By this
time, I've totally lost it!
If someone will direct me to a site or sites where this is layed
out, I would appreciate it. I'm also curious about the steps in marketing
an iris. Ok, you have a lovely seedling. You show it and win with it. Do
you then apply for registration and a name? If so, what then? How long is
the iris YOURS ONLY before another grower can propagate it and sell it?
(I'm thinking in terms of the drug companies where they have a 10 year
period where no other company has access to that particular product.
After that time, anyone can sell the product under their name.) Or is the
iris never YOURS ONLY? Does the hybridizer SELL the right for other
growers to sell his/her introduction? Again, direct me to a site where
this information is available and I'll research it.
Lots of questions but I know some of you wise folks out there can
answer all of them!
Thanks!

I won best seedling with this at the San Fernando Valley Iris Society
Spring Show.
(Happy Bride x Lavender Queen) x Flute Enchantee) X (Mesmerizer x
Godsend)
4 of these are spaceagers and you can see the flounces are getting pretty
big.
