Linda,
You missed the obvious one :-). I'd suggest the real driving force behind
most intros is parental pride.
In anything, fame would seem to be more of an annoyance than a benefit. With
irises, unless you're willing to devote most of your time and energy to a
business large enough to generate even a moderate income, covering the costs
of shipping and supplies is a challenge.
However... when one of your "babies" outperforms anything you've ever seen
in its class or is DDG, it's natural to want everyone else to enjoy it as
well. (That's why there are piano recitals and spelling bees... )
