You are right about it being hard to find a true dark blue iris. Any iris
that I have seen that is close to being as dark as the blue in Old Glory
has had a strong violet cast to it. As for LAST HURRAH, it is a nearly true
medium blue here, but as the name indicates, it blooms pretty close to the
end of the season, so it might not be in sync with the red and white irises
you choose for your bed. PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE might be a better choice from
the standpoint of when it blooms, or how about YAQUINA BLUE?
