Dear Char,
I'm sorry to be so slow in answering your questions, but I decided that I
should check with Hooker to be sure about what I said. It's a good thing I
did, because I was wrong.
I do have the iris named after his mother, but it isn't "Marthella", it is
"Mary Ellen Nichols".
"Marthella" is named for Marthella Shoemake, a friend of his in the Sooner
State Iris Soc.
in Oklahoma City. He also told me that "Lenora Pearl" is named for his
maternal grandmother Clark.
"Priscilla of Corinth" was a woman of the Bible who was a friend of St.
Paul.
