Hi Linda :
How many acres of irises do you have ? To try and
germinate 1000 seedlings is some undertaking , I think
I`m doing a lot when I do 300 lily seeds .
Irises must be very prolific seed producers .
3 to 4 months treatment in the fridge sounds like
delayed hypogeal germination , do you know the
temperature your fridge is set at ?
Until you are ready to plant your iris seed how do
you store them ? I hope I haven`t harmed mine by
freezing them .
As I haven`t started mine yet , I figure it`s to
late in the year already [up here anyway] for them to
germinate and grow enough to survive their first
winter in zone 1.5 . Thus I`m going to hold them and
plant sometime in November . That way they should have
a good start before being put out next spring .
Thank for the advise and info as you can see I`v
joined iris talk .
