I'm an old mining engineer.  I can still remember our Freshman Geology
classs where emphasis was placed on the difference.  Limestone reacts with
Hydracloric Acid (HCl), dolemite does not.  To tell the difference we would
place a drop of HCl on the rock to see if it did create a reaction.

I'll contact the head of the Geology Department at New Mexico State.  Maybe
they have made a notation change
