I have come to the conclusion that anything that prevents the soil from
splashing up onto the leaves during rainfall can help reduce leaf spot in my
garden. That is, "companion plants," aka weeds. It doesn't keep me from attempting
to a have a weed-free garden, however, because the weeds can also promote rot
due to lack of air circulation around the rhizomes. Now I just need to
figure out a way to have both conditions....no soil splash, but good air
circulation.
